Paying the checkoff does not make you a member of the Michigan Soybean Association.
At-Large District can be represented by a qualifying Director from any Michigan county.
Bill Spike, from Owosso, is the MSA director for District 8 - At Large. This district represents any and all the counties of the state. Bill serves as Director and Treasurer but also on the Administration Committee, Public Affairs/Policy Committee, Audit Committee, and is Chair of the Nominating Committee.
Bill has been a lifelong owner/operator of Spike Farms, a second generation 1,000 acre farm that raises soybeans, corn and wheat.
Mr. Spike also is a licensed Real Estate Broker and owns his own company, MI-LAND Reality. Bill works primarily in the area of farmland and rural housing.
In addition to farming, bill has been on many boards an dcommittees and currently is on the Shiawassee County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and is Chairman on the Shiawassee County 4-H Dairy Barn Fund.
"I believe each of us has an obligation to do what we can to promote and improve our industry and community. That is the reason I volunteered to be a candidate for the Michigan Soybean Association and I thank the members for electing me. I take the trust placed in me very seriously and hope I can serve you well."

Norm Tanis, from Imlay City, is the MSA Director for District 8 - At Large and serves on the Membership Committee.
Norm has a 280 acre farm with 200 being soybeans and has been farming for 15 years.
In addition to farming, Norm is also on the Michigan Vegetable Council, his Church Council, and is his local School Board President. He is also working for Helena Chemical Company.
"I believe that the Michigan Soybean Association focuses more on Michigan issues."
