USB Funded Projects
The United Soybean Board (USB) funds meaningful projects separate from each state checkoff board; however, each state is invited to participate in funding any project with state specific interest.
Michigan’s philosophy has been to collaborate with the USB in the following ways:
- Consider co-funding of any project with Michigan “ties”
- Allow the USB to coordinate
- Fund through the USB
- Allow project management by USB
- Consider funding only after budget allocation for Michigan producer needs are completed.
Collaborative projects with the USB that are Michigan based include:
- Soy Foam for Automotive Applications as coordinated at the University of Michigan-Dearborn by Dr. Alan Argento
- Soy-based Aliphatic Polyurathaner from Soy Meal as coordinated at Michigan State University by Dr. Ramani Narayan
- Soy Oils and Polyols in High Performance Elastomeric Compounds as coordinated by the Ford Motor Company's Dr. Cynthia Flanigan
