May 9, 2011 - Dr. George Bird, MSU Nematologist talks about the random research survey for SCN presence in Michigan counties and some of the findings of the survey. Click here to listen.

May 2, 2011 - Dr. George Bird, MSU Nematologist, explains the survey of approximately 550 fields that were sampled across the state of Michigan for Soybean Cyst Nematodes. This survey will determine the presence and severity levels of SCN in each field. Click here to listen.

November 29, 2010 - Ed Cagney, soybean farmer from Scotts, Michigan and President of the North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP), looks into the future for what he sees NCSRP focusing on. Specifically, profitability for soybean producers through increased soybean yields and disease/pest control will be the target for NCSRP. Click here to listen.

November 22, 2010 - Ed Cagney, soybean producer from Scotts, Michigan and chair of the North Central Soybean Research Program shares some of the benefits of the multi-state funded NCSRP efforts to collaborate on soybean disease and insect research such as white mold, soybean rust, sudden death syndrome, frogeye leaf spot, as well as improving soybean yields. Additional funding allows for larger projects with more definitive research results. Click here to listen.

November 15, 2010 - Keith Reinholt, Field Operations Director for the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee (MSPC) shares some details of the North Central Soybean Research Program’s (NCSRP) collaborative multi-state efforts to conduct soybean related research on White Mold, Soybean Cyst Nematodes (SCN), Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS), Soybean Rust (SBR), Soybean Aphids (SBA), and the like. With SDS being fairly new to Michigan, we can benefit from previous research done by the NCSRP, which was partially funded by Michigan’s soybean farmers through their investment in the soybean checkoff. November 8, 2010 - Keith Reinholt, Field Operations Director with MSPC explains the North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP) as a collaborative effort between the North-Central states to fund agronomic soybean research. Funding is leveraged between the soybean producing states through their soybean checkoff investment and federal grants along with the United Soybean Board.Click here to listen.

September 6, 2010 - Andy Welden, President of the Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee, announces SPARTA™, a soybean aphid resistant germplasm developed at MSU with funding from the soybean checkoff. SPARTA™ could be a direct cost savings per soybean acre based on reduced insecticide application needs. The germplasm is available to any seed company to cross into their own varieties.
