GOODYEAR THANKS SOYBEAN GROWERS WITH 15% DISCOUNT
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, which has partnered with USB since 2012, is showing appreciation to U.S. soybean growers by offering a 15% discount on all its tire lines. An online coupon is now available to U.S. soybean farmers to redeem on all Goodyear tires. Farmers must use this internet-based coupon with its dedicated “Find Tires” link that will match vehicles to the appropriate Goodyear tires as well as local installation options.

As one of the world’s largest tire companies, Goodyear has increased its 2020 usage of soybean oil by 73% over 2018 usage, making progress toward its long-term goal of full petroleum oil replacement in its products by 2040. USB has also collaborated with Goodyear to introduce the benefits of soy in its tires to major sustainability-focused fleets across the nation.
Goodyear commercialized the soy innovation in its Assurance WeatherReady™ consumer tire line in 2017, the Eagle Enforcer All Weather™ in 2018, the Eagle Exhilarate™ in 2019 and the Goodyear Assurance ComfortDrive in 2020.

Animal Feed
Poultry and livestock feed makes up 97 percent of soybean meal used in the U.S. In Michigan, poultry and hogs are the largest consumers of soybean meal.
Food for Human Consumption
The other 3 percent of soybean meal used in the U.S. is in food products like protein alternatives and soymilk. Oil used for food accounts for 61 percent of soybean oil used in the U.S. This oil can be used as vegetable oil for frying or baking, and as an ingredient in foods like salad dressings and margarines. Soybean oil used for industrial purposes accounts for 7 percent of soybean oil used in the U.S. This oil is converted into products like paints, plastics and cleaners. The USDA Biobased program has a complete list of industrial products containing soybeans.
Biodiesel
Biodiesel makes up more than 30 percent of soybean oil used in the U.S. Biodiesel is a renewable substitute for petroleum diesel made from soybean oil.
